Poetic Justice Open Mic Night – Monday, 20 June

09Jun11

Our Open Mic night for June is coming up in two weeks, and it’s going to be a good one.

We will have the privilege of enjoying a reading from former Burns Fellow and all-round bloody good poet Sue Wootton. Sue’s poetry and fiction has been published and anthologised, well, just about everywhere.  She has published two collections of poetry (Hourglass and Magnetic South) and one wonderful children’s book (Cloudcatcher).

Read all about her at: www.suewootton.co.nz.

Thanks to The Black Shack in Lake Hawea for putting Sue up.  A night or two in this beauty of a lakeside cottage should ensure she’ll be back again in the future.

And for the rest of us, don’t think that just because you weren’t a Burns Fellow you don’t get to read. We will be holding our regular Open Mic session on the evening as well. This month’s theme is Lost & Found. You can interpret this any way you like, but we’d love to see some found poetry get an airing. Not sure what that means? Read up on found poetry here.

All welcome to read, all welcome to watch!

When:    Monday, 20 June, 8pm

Where:    Upstairs at Kai Whaka Pai, Ardmore Street, Wanaka
